Name of eleven Egyptian pharaohs of the XIX th and the XX th dynasties .

Ramses II : ( C.1290 – 1224 B.C ) son of Seti was the first great ruler of this name even in ancient times his name was so great that it eclipsed of his father . After decades of fierce and indecisive fighting , Ramses managed to conclude a peace treaty with the Hittities which recognized the complete equality of the two states and bound then on mutual assistance in the event of attack from outside . There followed almost fifty years of peace , during which Ramses was able to raise Egypt to the height of the economic prosperity . This provided a stable basis for the development of literature and the arts and the execution of architectural works of staggering dimensions , foremost among which was the magnificent hypostyle hall of the temple of Amen at Karnak . Also situated in the plain of Thebes  was the the Ramesseum which was probably conceived both as a temple of Amen and also as a temple for the pharaoh . At Nubia at Abu Simbel Ramses had a temple carved out of the rock at that temple sun shines twice a year on Ramses statue’s face once in the occasion of his birthday and the other in the occasion of being on throne .
